Geminid Meteor Shower

Date Range: November 19 - December 24, 2025
Peak Viewing: December 13-14, 2025

Overview
The Geminid meteor shower, peaking in mid-December, is one of the brightest and most reliable meteor showers of the year. Known for its fast, often yellow meteors, the Geminids originate from the asteroid 3200 Phaethon and radiate from the constellation Gemini, lighting up the night sky with up to 120 meteors per hour.

Viewing Tips

  • Peak viewing is mid-December, with the best time around 2 a.m. when Gemini is highest.

  • Meteors can be seen all night, but after midnight offers the best viewing.

  • Find a dark, open location away from city lights.

  • Allow at least 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the darkness.

  • Look away from the radiant point to catch more meteors streaking across the sky.
