Orionid Meteor Shower

Date Range: October 2 – November 7, 2025
Peak Viewing: October 20-21, 2025

Overview
The Orionid meteor shower is an annual highlight known for its bright, fast meteors that often leave glowing trails across the night sky. Originating from debris left by Halley’s Comet, this late-October show peaks between October 20th and 24th, offering spectacular viewing from after midnight until dawn.

Viewing Tips

  • Best viewing is from late night through dawn during the peak (Oct 20-21).

  • Look toward the constellation Orion, but meteors can streak anywhere across the sky.

  • Find a dark, open area away from city lights.

  • Allow your eyes 20 minutes to adjust to the darkness.

  • Bring a reclining chair or blanket for comfortable, relaxed viewing.
